The Gardens will be open again for West Woodhay’s evening of the year on Friday 13th June 2014
There will be lots of wine and food and our visitors will be well looked after, this year with the assistance of our friends from the Mary Hare School for Deaf Children. Mary Hare has some specific fundraising under way at present, a “Sink or Swim” project to raise money to put the dilapidated swimming pool back into proper order – and for the school’s website please click on the logo at the foot of this page. We think this project is well worth supporting and the school is treating our evening as a major project in itself; the Sixth Form will be staffing both the kitchen and the handing round of food.
For our entertainment in recent years we have seen the marvellous sight of marching bands on the main lawn at the rear of West Woodhay House, looking up to the Downs; for 2014 with the Pocket Orchestra(click to go to their own website) we intend to provide music to create a different kind of atmosphere in these wonderful gardens.
“Atmospheric, yet vibrant, this charming collection of songs will make you wish you had been born some 100 years ago. The style, glamour and ‘fabulousness’ of this era is captured beautifully on the album.”

Tickets were limited for the first time in 2011 and we had to turn people away; with regret we anticipate that we may have to do so again in 2014, as we feel that we have to limit the numbers to ensure a good party. There will be a maximum of 950 tickets available, about the same as last time; entry will be by donation only and we will recommend a minimum amount. Please book as soon as you receive an invitation.
The evening forms a Preview to the whole show with the Trade Stands, Gardens and Show Gardens all open between 6pm and 9pm.
